I believe that clients are inherently adaptive—they want to change and know where to go, even if unexamined defenses, patterns, or assumptions may get in the way. I believe my role as therapist is to help remove those obstacles through the full experience of the present moment, including the thoughts and feelings that arise based on clients’ histories and habitual responses. With growing awareness and acceptance of what is, in dialog with a curious and compassionate “other,” we can change our relationship to it and begin to shift our patterns, question our assumptions, and live with clarity, agency, and authenticity.
My theoretical approach is integrative and tailored to the individual client(s), drawing on AEDP, Attachment Theory, Existential Theory, and Gottman Couples Therapy, among others. My years of study of Buddhist psychology and meditation also inform my approach—particularly my emphasis on nonjudgmental awareness of experience and detaching from the cognitive distortions that can keep us stuck.
I work with individual adults and couples to help them find meaning, connection, clarity, and confidence, especially amid life transitions—such as career changes, marriage, divorce, having or launching children, recovery from trauma or addiction, aging, and loss.
I have a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Antioch University and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) in the State of Washington (License No. MC 61359962). As part of my continuing education and development, I consult regularly with a supervisor and other experienced counselors. I also have significant training in AEDP and years of experience and training in mindfulness-based approaches to change.
My office is located in the Wallingford neighborhood in Seattle. Although I offer telehealth sessions, I believe in-person sessions are the most effective. Please feel free to call, email. or use the Contact button below to schedule an introductory meeting.
